Nestle launches new factory and beverage distribution center in US
Dedicated to meet growing demand for Nestle Nesquik Ready-to-Drink and Nestle Coffee-Mate Liquid products
Nestle has launched a new ready-to-drink aseptic products factory in Anderson, Indiana, with production dedicated to meet growing US consumer demand for Nestle Nesquik Ready-to-Drink and Nestle Coffee-Mate Liquid products.
The Anderson factory has applied for LEED certification, meaning the facility meets a suite of standards for environmentally sustainable construction as determined by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). It has also improved recyclability of resin packaging, a wastewater recovery system for reuse in cooling towers, and uses low-emission natural gas boilers, the company said.
The Anderson factory is expected to become Nestlé’s centre for healthy beverages in the US and allow the company to create and develop new and innovative beverage products. Between August 2006 and June 2008, Nestlé invested $359m to construct the factory and distribution centre. Last August, the company announced it will invest $170m to expand the facility to more than 1 million sq. ft. by 2011. In total, over 500 jobs will be created in Anderson by 2011.
Paul Bulcke, CEO of Nestle, said: Our Anderson facility gives us a unique platform to leverage our nutrition, health and wellness strategy in the US. It will allow us to create and develop new and innovative ranges of healthy and nutritious beverage products and bring them to market. We've made our products better for the consumers, and with this facility, better for the environment.
